Today we're talking to powerful centre-half Godwin Antwi, who is back at Melwood after spending the first half of the season over the water at Tranmere Rovers, where he made six loan appearances.

The youngster joined the Reds from Real Zaragoza in August 2005 but has yet to make his senior competitive debut.

He was part of the FA Youth Cup winning team in 2006, establishing himself as a rock at the back alongside Jack Hobbs.

Antwi spent the final two months of the 2006-07 season on loan at League Two side Accrington Stanley, where he played nine games and helped keep them in the Football League.

The following year he was loaned to League One side Hartlepool United, a period which saw him make 27 league appearances and break his professional duck in front of goal.

Antwi is the first Ghanaian to represent Liverpool. Though he also has a Spanish passport, his allegiance lies with the African nation should an international call come his way.

If you weren't a footballer?

I would be at uni, maybe in Canada or somewhere like that. I'd study something to do with sport.

Which three things would you take to a desert island?

Water, a friend, and can I take a microwave to cook food?

What would you cook?

I am not bad at cooking African food, though only for myself.

Favourite film?

Blood Diamond.

What have you got on your iPod?

It's mainly hip hop, and then some Ghanaian music – worship music and things like that. I wouldn't put that on in the dressing room! Maybe I would the hip hop.

Ringtone?

It's Ghanaian music again.

Sport?

Apart from football it is table tennis. I play that here against a few of the lads. Last year I played against Jack Hobbs a lot, he is good. Neil Mellor used to be good as well, and Harry Kewell wasn't bad.

Career highlights?

I am still growing up so there isn't anything just yet. I hope to have things to say to this in the future.

Ghana or Spain?

It's an easy decision. Everyone loves their country and Ghana is my country. If I got the opportunity to one day play for them, I would take it. I would be very proud to do this.

Today we're focusing on promising centre-back Daniel Sanchez Ayala, who arrived on Merseyside at the start of 2007-08 after another Spanish raid from Rafa Benitez.

The teenager came from Seville, where he cut his teeth for seven years.

"I didn't hesitate when I found out Liverpool were interested," he says.

"I didn't know much about the city but I knew all about the club and its successes."

Ayala is currently fighting for a place in Gary Ablett's reserves, who he helped to league glory in 2007-08.

The defender's talent hasn't gone unnoticed back home, where he's trained with Spain Under-17s.

Today we're looking at striker Jordy Brouwer, who arrived at Anfield from Ajax in January 2007.

The target man was a key member of Ablett's title-winning team in 2007-08, scoring at Anfield as the Reds saw off southern division winners Aston Villa.

He has also represented Holland Under-19s.

"When I first came here it was hard for me to play English football because it's much more physical than Holland, but I have improved in this area," says Brouwer. "I think I have become stronger, physically.

"Of course it was a tough decision to leave Ajax but you always have these decisions in football. Coming to Liverpool was a once in a lifetime chance for me."

Always keen to learn from his teammates, Brouwer is known to stay after training to work on his technique with countryman Ryan Babel.

"I look up to all the players, especially the forwards," he adds. "With Ryan Babel, we sometimes stay back after training and work together. We work on our touches and everything.

"Of course, he is someone I admire. I knew him a bit from Ajax already."

If you weren't a footballer?

I don't know. Football has always been my life. I had to be a footballer because I can't do anything else.

Nothing. It just vibrates.

Today we're focusing on centre-half Martin Kelly, who graduated from the Academy in the summer of 2007.

The tall but elegant defender, who missed almost two years of his Academy development due to a back problem, can play across the back four.

"The injury has made me more determined," says Kelly. "Having those two years out meant I missed so much from my development.

"I was lucky to get a chance to come to Melwood, and I think that me coming here has meant I've developed at least twice as quick."

Kelly broke into Ablett's reserves during 2007-08, helping them win the Premier League.

He was rewarded with a 14-minute cameo for the first team in a pre-season friendly against Tranmere back in July.

Injury has blighted the 20-year-old's progress this term, but he's still one of the men most likely among the ressies. Only this morning, boss Gary Ablett claimed his striker could feature in Rafa Benitez's first-team plans before 2008-09 is out.

Nemeth arrived from MTK Hungaria alongside Simon in the summer of 2007 having impressed in the previous year's UEFA U17 Championships.

After signing a three-year deal, he quickly set about finding the back of the net, bagging a brace on his second-string debut against Man City.

If this had Kopites purring, a double in the mini-derby a week later really got the terraces buzzing.

Nemeth went on to score his ninth of the league campaign as the reserves clinched the national title at Anfield against Aston Villa in May 2008.

Later that month, after netting the crucial goal against Portugal to take Hungary U19s to the European Championships, he received his first senior international call up.

With lethal finishing, great movement and a fine touch, big things are expected of Nemeth, who has yet to make his senior competitive bow for Liverpool.

The Reds had taken the lead through Yossi Benayoun only for Martin O'Neill's men to turn the game on its head with two goals in three crazy minutes. Thankfully, with injury-time looming, our lanky striker sent the Kop into raptures with a hooked shot to level the scores.

One of the finest displays by any top-flight side throughout 2006-07, with first-half goals from Dirk Kuyt, Peter Crouch and Luis Garcia humbling the in-form midlanders. Gabriel Agbonlahor snatched a second-half consolation strike for the visitors before Chris Sutton forced Pepe Reina into a superb diving save, but anything other than a clear Liverpool victory would have been an injustice.

The youngster, who arrived at Anfield with compatriot Nemeth, signed a three-year contract to keep him at the club until 2010.

Injury spoilt his first season at Melwood but, after representing Hungary at the UEFA Under-19 Championships last summer, he has impressed this term.

Biggest influence on your career?

My father. He played for a few teams in the first division at home. He played for Hungary U21s too. He watches my games on LFC TV.

Which first teamers help you in training?

Sami Hyypia gives you advice and Yossi Benayoun is really nice too.

What's on your iPod?

I like all kinds of music. [Nemeth interrupts and jokes that his mate loves Abba.]

Who puts the music on in the dressing room?

Everyone. We all put money in for a stereo. Gary Ablett is the DJ though - he brings the hi-fi and everything.

Strengths?

You would have to ask Gary - it's a difficult question. I work hard on the pitch.

Weaknesses?

I need to score more goals. I was injured for a long time, and this season I have played but I need to score more.

Who spends most time in front of the mirror among the ressies?

What would you be if you weren't a footballer?

[Long pause before Nemeth suggests Andras could be a businessman]. Businessman? No. I would play basketball.

Are you good?

[Shakes head] No.

How did your move come about?

My father knew before me and then I heard through my agent two days before I had to come.

What was your reaction?

[Nemeth suggests his mate cried upon hearing the news] No, I was very happy and it made it easier that Krisztian was coming with me. The first months were hard because we didn't speak English but we had lessons three times a week.

Best thing about living in England?

The people are very friendly. I get recognised a little bit more this season. It's a good feeling and it makes you happy when a small kid asks you to sign a piece of paper. I am not always sure what they are saying yet, though.

Footballing hero?

[Nemeth suggests that HE is Simon's hero] I'll say Andriy Shevchenko.

Career highlight?

It's the same as Krisztian's because we were together - the European U19 Championships last year when Hungary got to the semi-finals. Hopefully soon I can get into the U21s.

Today we're looking at Scottish winger Gary Mackay-Steven, who rose through the ranks at Ross County before impressing Anfield scouts while playing for Scotland in the European Under-17 Championships.

The left-sider was quickly offered a place at the Academy, moving to Merseyside in the summer of 2007.

"When I knew Liverpool were interested, this was the only place I wanted to be," says Mackay-Steven. "I had options to go for trials at other clubs but after seeing the facilities here I didn't go.

"I obviously know about the tradition of Scottish players here and it's definitely something I want to emulate. Kenny Dalglish is one of the club's best ever players, so to follow in his footsteps wouldn't be bad!"

Within a year, the youngster was deemed good enough for Melwood, heading down to West Derby in July alongside midfielder Steven Irwin.

"I got a phone call as I was coming back from my holidays in Greece," says Mackay-Steven, who turned 18 on Sunday.

"A guy from the Academy phoned but he couldn't get through to me as I dropped my phone down the toilet! I ended up getting a message from my house parents.

"It is a big step up but I am relishing the opportunity. It's the place to be.

"I learn things every day and it's going well so far.

"To start with, when you are eating breakfast and they [the first team] are there, you do get starstruck but you get used to it. They are friendly, normal guys."

If you weren't a footballer?

I'd be in uni training to be a PE teacher.

Whose name was on your shirt as a kid?

I didn't support an English team as a kid, though I did like watching Arsenal. I had Ibrahimivic on the back of a Juventus shirt once, because I like skilful players.

The attacking midfielder spent five years at the Bernabeu before deciding his career would be better served at Anfield.

"My father agreed with me that moving here would be a great opportunity," he says. "I already knew about Liverpool from the Champions League: the final we won and the final we lost.

"These games, as well as the Chelsea semi-finals, made a big impression on me."

Bruna, a left-footer with a talent for set pieces, is currently learning his trade with Ablett's reserves, who he helped to league glory in 2007-08.

Despite being born in Argentina, he has represented Spain at youth level and has until the age of 21 to decide which country's colours he'll ultimately wear.

I would study, but I am not sure what.

After graduating to Melwood, Flynn helped the reserves to league glory in 2007-08.

He's yet to make his senior competitive debut, though has featured in several pre-season friendlies including an appearance alongside Steven Gerrard against Tranmere.

"It was good," the 20-year-old told Liverpoolfc.tv. "When he came on the pace of the game picked up. It's the way he plays – it makes the whole team play quicker. You can see why he is the best player and the captain.

"I was in the game and focused, so I didn't really notice when he came on. But after five minutes I thought, 'The pace has really picked up.'

"You don't think about it too much until afterwards when people say, 'You've played with Gerrard.' Then you think, 'Oh yeah, I have!'

"I have found the games I have played really good. The problem is, once you've had it you want more. Games aren't easy to come by though because the first team is brilliant!"

Probably university - no idea what I'd be doing, though.

What's it like being a young Scot at a club where many of the legends are Scottish?

It's something I am aware of. You see on the website when they do the top players to play for the club. My friends and the people I live with talk to me about that.

Make Love In This Club by Usher. I got that off Gary Mackay-Steven's computer.

Chick fajitas.

The three Bourne films.

Career highlight?

There's three: the two Youth Cups and the reserve league. If I had to say one it'd be the second Youth Cup.
